Wilson was born in Singapore, and raised in Malaysia. He came over to the United States to attend Biola University, Rosemead Graduate School of Psychology and then San Francisco State University. His study was in the field of Psychology and Clinical Social Work. He had practiced psychiatric therapy since 1986. In 1996 he began to consider obeying God's call to full-time ministry.
He and his wife, Esther, candidated with Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1997, where Wilson would serve as a therapists to the missionaries in the Southeast Asia region. However, feeling he needed more Biblical training, he enrolled at Multnomah Biblical Seminary. Wilson graduated with a Masters in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis in Family Ministry. It was at the latter part of his time in seminary that God's directions to the mission became clearer. With this clarity, we changed our direction in 2000 and joined Campus Crusade for Christ.
Wilson taught Pastoral Counseling and directed the Master program in Pastoral Counseling at one of Campus Crusade's seminaries from 2001-2006.
In 2006, Wilson and Esther joined Barnabas International, a mission organization dedicated to member care – the care of all full-time Christian workers. These include evangelists, missionaries, pastors, church planters and their support staff and families. The bulk of Wilson's ministry is as an itinerant preacher/teacher, speaking at conferences, seminars, workshops and pulpits. He also provides psychotherapy/counseling and responds to psychiatric crisis to those in need.
Wilson's wife, Esther, is the daughter of the late pastor of the Chinese Independent Baptist Church in Oakland, California. Esther graduated from Multnomah Bible College in 1991. She received God's calling to full-time missions while attending Urbana. She served in an administrative role at the mission school in Singapore for five years, in a Christian counseling center in California for 2 years, in an American Chinese church in California for 2 years, as the Women's Ministry director for 1 year in Colorado.
