My Story
I grew up in an excellent family with parents who loved and nurtured me. I learned that God existed, and that he had made me and loved me. I learned that Christ was God’s son and I loved how he cared for the poor and downtrodden.

My freshman year in college I heard through Campus Crusade for Christ that I was created by God to be in a personal relationship with Him. I immediately realized that a Personal relationship with God was something I had been missing, and had been trying to replace with other things. Things that were good but could never take His place. But try as I could, I couldn’t reach God. It took me about 6 months to realize that my replacing God with other things had permanently separated me from Him. However, God had separated his son Christ from Himself, so I could be united with God as Christ had been. I just needed to accept what Christ had done. I did this by the end of my freshman year, and began my personal relationship with God. Since then He has been teaching me what it means to live with Him.

Family
Married to Susanne since November 1997. Daughter Hallie born in 2002, and son Ben in 2004.

Professional Training and Experience
B.S. Civil Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 1991

After college I worked for Exxon Pipeline Company in Texas for 6 years. I was a design engineer and then an operations support engineer for pipelines in Texas and Louisiana. I also was very involved at Bethel Independent Church in Houston, and helped out with the high school youth group.

I joined the staff of EMI in the summer of 1997. I have served as the intern coordinator, project approval coordinator and volunteer development coordinator. I am currently the Vice President of Operations and EMI’s Design Manager. My degree is in civil engineering but I really enjoy the challenges of architectural planning

Ministry Experience
My first overseas Christian experience was to Indonesia in 1994 with the Bethel youth group, thanks to the generous last minute donation of a couple who got sick. . In 1995 I took my first trip with EMI, to Nepal to design a water pipeline. Since joining EMI I have led teams to Nepal, India, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Mexico, Kenya, Haiti, Bolivia, Egypt, Guatemala, Mozambique, Brazil, Cambodia and other countries around the world. I am currently focused on the Middle East as the Middle East zone team captain.

It is amazing to see the way that God brings each EMI team together perfectly to serve the ministries needs. And it is equally amazing to have such an immediate bond with those we serve around the world because Christ lives in each of us.

If God told me to live long term in a cross-cultural setting, the country I would chose...
This is a tough one. I have loved all of the places I have gotten to serve in. Nepal and Nicaragua are close to my heart because they are one of the first ones I went to. I think I’ll have to let God choose.
