Project Scope
International Christian Ministries exists to serve the church by discipling and equipping its leaders. The ICM team believes that the power base of evangelical Christianity is shifting to Africa and its vision is to have a mature Church in Africa which will lead the global Church in fulfilling the great commission in the 21st Century. ICM launched its first seminary in Kitale, Kenya in 1992 and started with about 20 men who were committed to learning. James Kamau was one of those first men trained by ICM. In the region and especially Tanzania, the biggest problem that the church faces today is lack of theological training for leaders.
ICM trains church leaders, to serve their own people by providing solutions to local needs. Traditionally in Africa, wherever churches have been planted, development has followed as the churches seek to obey the command: " … let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
ICM Tanzania, has an existing seminary that has been training pastors for many years, they have recently acquired 5 acres of property, just north of Dar es Salaam (the capital). They are seeking to establish a seminary and leadership training center. ICM desire is to become even more of a catalyst for spiritual transformation, through Bible teaching and training. ICM Tanzania is part of an existing Africa Theological Seminary network.
This EMI team, is looking for two architects and a drafter to help with the master planning and building design for the first phase of this campus. A civil engineer to assist in the water and wastewater system design, a structural engineer for designing the basic structural building system, a surveyor to survey the property and also help with civil design needs, plus a graphic designer to help with promotional materials. The project's goal would be most, if not all work would be done in country so ICM, would be able to begin construction, shortly after the team leaves.
Tanzania remains extremely poor, forty-five years after independence. It lags behind all her neighbors; Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda in terms of development. The United Nations (2006) report on human development, has mentioned Tanzania is one of the poorest nations on earth, placed the country on the bottom of the list, 47 out of 50 poor nations. But with this great need is also an opportunity to bring Godly teaching and training that can help the people of Tanzania develop physically and spiritually.
People will ask, “What is God’s will for my life?” It’s a good question, but the better questions should be, what is God’s will, period. A big part of HIS will is the great commission, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations” Matthew 28:19a. Join us as we partner with ICM, to help to make disciples, in the nation of Tanzania.
