Malongo Baptist Vocational Training School
March 2 – March 14, 2007
eMi Project 9057
Original Project Scope
The purpose of Malongo Baptist Vocational Training School is to create self reliant, God fearing citizens from among the local community. They seek to do this by equipping the youth with vocational skills which will help eradicate poverty and enable the community to develop.
The school has been in operation since 2004 as a secondary school and is now expanding to include a vocational wing. The anticipated activities for this new facility include: carpentry and joinery, brick laying, metal work, motor vehicle repair, leather working, knitting and tailoring, secretarial skills and information and technology. The buildings to be incorporated into the design include: 5 workshops for 40 students each, two dormitories for 100 students each, kitchen and dining facilities for 300 students, a library and a computer room.
Malongo Baptist school has asked eMi to assist them by preparing a master plan of their 22 acre property, providing them with architectural renderings and other graphics suitable for fundraising abroad, designing the initial building(s), designing a water storage and distribution system using their existing well, providing them with a complete topographic map of their site and by designing a electrical distribution system with a reliable back up system.
