eMi Project 9044
Original Project Scope
Obangatek (literally “God is Great” in the local language) was birthed out of the vision of Mr. George Mawa. The former Ugandan dictator, Idi Amin, murdered George’s entire family, orphaning him as a small boy. Though an orphan, he saw the love of God through those who raised him, and he vowed at a young age to give 60% of any future money he would make toward caring for orphans. Over the years he and his wife Brenda have cared for over 34 children independent of any organization. Now the Lord has laid upon George’s heart the vision to create a permanent orphanage that can provide for more children. Obangatek’s vision is to provide for the needs of the war and AIDS orphans and widows of Northern Uganda by providing medical care, education, and spiritual nourishment. eMi has committed to providing a site master plan for their 24-acre site including an orphanage, student housing, a school, hospital, and church, and the architectural design for the orphanage.
