Project Update
Project 9041 update at emiea.org
Original Project Scope
For 5 years Amigos International has been providing care and education for over 200 orphans in the outskirts of Kampala. They now desire to offer them education and life skills in agriculture so that these children can return to their villages and become self-reliant. The Kira Farm Training Center is 24 acres located outside of Kampala that will provide a hands-on teaching center for these children. Already in place are two fish ponds to grow and harvest tilapia, maize fields and potato fields. The plan is to further develop this property to include chicken incubators and coops, places to raise cattle and goats with zero grazing, demonstration of various farming practices, accommodations for the students and guests and a demonstration energy efficient / safe house for the children to replicate as they return to the village.
eMi has committed to providing a site master plan showing how the land can be used effectively and efficiently, designing a guest facility for “western” visitors, providing best land use practices for ensuring the long term care of the environment and for the necessary infrastructure to ensure reliable water and wastewater solutions.
Amigos is about ordinary people, young or old, doing what they’re good at to make a difference. Come to Uganda to use your skills to provide a quality training center for the children of Uganda.
