Project Scope
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is an international multi-denominational ministry that is seeking to make Christ known throughout the nations, and is mobilizing and training disciples for this task. In 1978, YWAM founded the University of Nations with a vision to fulfill it's commitment to Christ's Great Commission. The focus of the University is to equip men and women spiritually, intellectually and professionally so that they can use their God-given talents to communicate and demonstrate the Good News to all nations. As a branch of the University, The Bridge Institute in Goa, is a training center aimed at fulfilling these purposes in India and beyond.
Led by director Mr. Jossy George and established in 1994, The Bridge Institute is a training center aiming to train people from among the least reached people in the area. The goal is to equip the students to return to their home communities with the ability to effectively communicate and live out the gospel among their own people. As part of this mission, the students receive training that will be used to help raise literacy rates and hygiene levels among the people they serve. The Bridge Institute has the goal of targeting people groups in some of the surrounding states, as well as communities of people in Goa such as AIDS patients, university students and people living in slum areas.
The school currently has 30 students, but will be able to train 150 per year with the new facility that is to be designed by the eMi volunteer team. The site is set within a residential area near the Arabian Sea coast, and will include classrooms, housing and administration spaces. If you desire to use your talents to help further God's Kingdom among the people of India, please consider joining eMi this spring in the beautiful Indian coastal state of Goa as we design the new YWAM Bridge Institute.
