Children’s Home for 50 kids, staff housing, 2-3 room school building.
Late October 2006
eMi Project 8115

Original Project Scope
Johanna’s Children’s Home was founded by Johanna and Gert Bakker, who are part of the Christian Help In Learning & Development (C.H.I.L.D.) Foundation based in Alice Springs, Australia. During several visits in the late nineties to look up their sponsored children in India, Johanna and Gert Bakker discovered a lack of education for children in rural areas. “We cannot solve the poverty in this country, but we can try to offer them an education and thereby a chance to make a difference for themselves and their future generations”.

The C.H.I.L.D. Foundation’s mission statement is: “To set up Christian Boarding Schools in rural parts of India and other developing countries, offering children from those villages a Christ centered education in a caring family environment.” Johanna’s Children’s Home began in 2003 with 15 children, and is presently run in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh on rental premises with 35 sponsored children from rural areas. The Home is managed by Mr. P.S.V. Samson and his wife Lalitha, who are supported by a team of board members, reporting to Australian board of directors.

Our eMi team has the opportunity to assist Johanna’s Children’s Home in surveying, and designing water supply / waste water systems, Home for 50 kids, staff housing, and a 2-3 room school building. Please consider joining this team and volunteering in helping in the realization of this vision in Guntur and beyond.
