Original Project Scope
The Shangilia Children’s Home near Kisumu on the shores of Lake Victoria cares for children by providing food, shelter, clothing, parental guidance and spiritual nourishment as well as health care to the local community. The ministry began in 2000 and moved to their present property in 2005 with 31 orphans.

Today there are 40 children living at Shangilia, a nine acre rural piece of lannd. Presently, water for the daily needs of the orphans is carried by buckets over a quarter mile away from an existing hillside springbox. The government has expressed an interest in a pipeline project to serve the orphanage and local community, but it could be years before action is undertaken.

EMI recently had a team of civil engineers in Ethiopia to design a water pipeline to traverse a much greater distance. The general feeling at the end of the trip expressed by the engineers was, “This is why we became civil engineers!” Come and join eMi for this water project, meeting the most fundamental human need for water, and be a part of a testimony bringing glory to the One who promise rivers of living water to all men.
